The Colonization of Israel and how to Decolonize It – In Summary
I just posted my master’s thesis titled “The Colonization Of Israel And How To Decolonize It“, and described that I received a grade of 99% on the paper.
After finishing my paper and receiving feedback I did the sensible thing and sent a one-page summary to the U.S. president, my Congressman, the State Department, and other people developing policy on Israel at the federal level. When I did this in 2018 Trump was the president.
Although I wrote slightly different summaries to different offices – the letter the the State Department talked about funding UNRWA – I think the letter to my then-Congressman summarizes my work best.
Here’s what I wrote to him:
Enclosed is an academic and procedural work on how to Decolonize Israel and how to create a peaceful resolution between Israel and Palestine.
Funds from the United States perpetuate the conflict, which reaches far beyond the borders of the United States, Israel, and Palestine. Please consider supporting Rep. McCollum’s [updated bill, H.R 3101, in the current 118th Congressional session (2021-2023) called “Defending the Human Rights of Palestinian Children and Families Living Under Israeli Military Occupation Act”]. All efforts to dissuade and defend injustice are essential.
Nonviolence is a key to peace. All efforts to prevent the rights of people to boycott should not only be allowed, but should be encouraged. Many States act contrary to this right of the people, and it should be made clear at the federal level that nonviolence is positive and transformation.
Peace requires security. Both Israelis and Palestinians should decrease munitions, and fully disarm. Both sides must work to understand the past, and forge a common future. How to get there should be decided by the local parties, with assistance by all friends in the international community.
Thank you for work for Washingtonians, and for your work for peace.
